Rangers: 41 rangers
The
St. Joseph’s College Rangers Team of St. Joseph’s College for Women (A),
Gnanapuram, Visakhapatnam, observed World Ozone Day with the objective of
creating awareness among students about the importance of the ozone layer and
the need for its protection. The programme emphasized the theme of
environmental responsibility and encouraged students to become ambassadors of
ozone conservation.
A
total of 41 Rangers actively participated in a Poster-Making Competition. The
Rangers creatively designed posters carrying meaningful slogans and messages
highlighting the importance of the ozone layer, the causes of ozone depletion,
and measures for its protection. These posters were subsequently displayed and
shared among the students of the college as an effective means of creating
environmental awareness.
Dr.
Palukurty Mary Anupama, Ranger Leader, addressed the students and explained the
vital role of the ozone layer in protecting life on Earth from harmful
ultraviolet (UV) radiation. She also discussed the major causes of ozone
depletion and emphasized the importance of adopting environmentally responsible
practices for its conservation.
Dr.
Tonia Grace further encouraged the students to communicate the message of ozone
protection to their families and communities and to educate people around them
about the significance of conserving the ozone layer.
The
programme successfully encouraged the Rangers to become active environmental
educators and responsible citizens committed to protecting the atmosphere and
promoting sustainable practices.
