Report on Organ Donation Awareness Activities

The Department of Biochemistry, St. Joseph's College for Women (Autonomous), Visakhapatnam, actively participated in the Organ Donation Awareness Programme organized by SPECT on 3 August 2026. Faculty members Dr. P. Mary Anupama and Dr. Mousami Shankar, along with students Jones, Madhavi, Subhasree, Anishma, Bhargavi, and Trishitha, took part in the awareness rally.

The rally commenced from the Mahatma Gandhi Statue opposite GVMC and concluded at the Central Library, Visakhapatnam. During the march, the participants carried placards and interacted with the public, creating awareness about the importance of organ donation and encouraging people to pledge their organs to save lives.

To extend the impact of the campaign within the institution, the students also designed and displayed an informative wall journal in the college, highlighting the significance, benefits, and myths associated with organ donation. The programme strengthened the students' sense of social responsibility and reinforced the Department of Biochemistry's commitment to community service, health education, and public awareness initiatives.

Report on Participation in the National Student Paryavaran Competition (NSPC 2026)

Rangers: Total of 36 rangers participated in the event

A total of 36 Rangers from St. Joseph's College for Women (Autonomous), Visakhapatnam actively participated in the National Student Paryavaran Competition (NSPC 2026), an online environmental awareness quiz conducted under the theme "Sowing to Growing." The competition is jointly supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Education, Government of India, with the objective of promoting environmental consciousness and encouraging sustainable practices among students.

The Rangers participated in the 4th Group (UG, PG & Research Scholars) category and successfully completed the online quiz over 24th and 25th July 2026. As part of the competition, participants also uploaded selfies while planting trees, demonstrating their commitment to environmental conservation and the LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) initiative. All participants will receive e-certificates in recognition of their involvement.

The participation was organized under the guidance of Dr. Palukurty Mary Anupama, Ranger Leader, who motivated and coordinated the Rangers throughout the programme. The enthusiastic response of all 36 Rangers reflects the college's commitment to environmental stewardship, community service, and active participation in national initiatives that promote ecological responsibility and sustainable development.
