Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, Visakhapatnam has an establishment of over 60 years and has recently changed a lot making the environment favourable for the animals. They mimicked the animal’s natural environment and provided them with good facilities and also protection from visitors. To see, appreciate and also adopt, Dr P. Mary Anupama has visited the Zoo with 3 students who are animal lovers and 2 rangers who had to learn about animals and nature.

Dr Anupama has adopted love birds for one year by paying Rs. 5000/-. The curator approved receipt of the amount and display board of Dr Anupama would be kept at adoption. The students promised to promote the adoption activity of animals as empathy is important for coexistence.

Faculty coordinator- Dr P. Mary Anupama and Dr Mousami Shankar Addala

An online seminar titled “Water and Cancer: The Relationship” was conducted on 13th March 2026 by the Amity Institute of Biotechnology in collaboration with the Amity Centre for Water Studies and Research, Amity University Rajasthan, Jaipur. The seminar highlighted the crucial role of water quality, contamination, and its potential link to cancer, emphasizing the need for safe water practices and environmental awareness.

 

The session was attended by Dr. Palukurty Mary Anupama along with students of St. Joseph’s College for Women (A). The seminar provided valuable insights into carcinogenic pollutants in water, preventive strategies, and the importance of sustainable water management. Such programs are significant in creating awareness among students about public health and environmental safety.

 

The event was well-organized by the coordinators and experts, offering an informative and engaging learning experience. It also encouraged students to explore interdisciplinary connections between biotechnology, environmental science, and human health.

Won first prize in Rangoli competition

 An AI generated Rangoli , to hand drawn one and finally with team SJCW presented the thought of saluting few Alumni Achievers of Andhra University at the Rangoli competitions organised for Centenary celebrations and International Womens day named as Sathvarn Naari. We won first prize. Thanks to our St. Josephs college management for encouraging the team to be a part of the mega event. Support from collegues and lots of appreciation from organisors and visitors and mainly our Andhra University faculty and Prof Sashi mam whom we represented in out rangoli. Date- 5th March. and Today we presented our momento to our principal Dr. Sr. Shyji along with Dr PK Jayalakshmi mam.
