Overview
As part of October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an
awareness program was organized at St. Joseph's College for Women (A).
Gnanapuram, Visakhapatnam, aimed at educating students, faculty, about breast
cancer. This initiative sought to empower women with knowledge and encourage
proactive health measures.

President by Dr P Mary Anupama Head, Department
of Biochemistry, The session was led by Dr. Sheethal Madan, who provided an
in-depth overview of breast cancer, covering early detection, self-examination
techniques, risk factors, and treatment options. Dr. Madan stressed the
importance of early diagnosis, which significantly increases the chances of
successful treatment. Dr Mousami Shankar spoke to the students on healthy food
intake.

The program saw active participation from the
attendees, 25 Rangers who engaged in a
Q&A session with Dr. Sheethal Madan, asking insightful questions about
prevention and support for patients undergoing treatment. Educational pamphlets
were also distributed, and attendees were encouraged to spread awareness within
their families and communities.
Conclusion
The event concluded with a heartfelt thanks to Dr.
Sheethal Madan for her informative and inspiring session. Attendees left with a
greater understanding of breast cancer and the importance of early detection,
emphasizing the value of self-care and regular health checks. The program was a
significant step toward building a more informed community regarding women's
health issues.
